This Sunday Prof. Antonevich served as assistant concertmaster in the last concert of the 2022 summer season for the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra.
Maestro Myron Romanul flew in from Germany especially for this performance.
It was so hot that all the musicians removed their jackets and ties, but the music was beautiful!
On June 11, we had our annual spring recital for our students. Here is a photo of Stan with his student Roland Huang-Galaznik after the recital, that his mom took and sent to us. Roland is from Belmont, and he performed the beautiful “Waves of the Danube” waltz by Josef Ivanovici. Great job, Roland!
Our congratulations to Stan’s student Julie Jung, a rising 7th grader in Lexington, who was just accepted into NEC’s String Repertory Orchestra!
Another student of ours just got accepted to the District Junior Festival Orchestra! CONGRATULATIONS!!
This weekend I played in the Holiday Pops concert with the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra. It was wonderful to be performing in the beautiful Mechanics Hall once again, with all the musicians, singers and dancers, even if we had to wear masks. Thank you Siri Smedvig for the great photo.
Our Music Director, violinist Stan Antonevich, after yesterday’s performance at Center Makor in Brookline, MA.
Today our musical director Stan Antonevich will participate in an 80th anniversary commemoration of Babi Yar, an unforgettable tragic event in the history of the Holocaust that took place near Kiev, Ukraine. He is glad he could show his support by donating his services to this cause, so we can remember the past.
“Noah’s Violin” is the most recent creation of Venetian artist Livio De Marchi. De Marchi came up with the idea during last year’s lockdown, and explained that the violin is a “sign of Venice restarting.” He sees it as bringing a message of hope — artistically and culturally — after a storm.
