We just learned our student Maxim Mastyugin, who is a junior at Lexington High School, has been accepted to the schools’ Chamber Orchestra, which is the most selective orchestra available. The orchestra program at Lexington High is very strong. Earlier this month, Maxim’s current orchestra won the Gold Medal at the 2016 MICCA Concert Festival (Massachusetts Instrumental & Choral Conductors Association). Congratulations, Maxim, and more gold medals to you!
We are happy that Stan’s student Chichi Liu just got accepted to the International Summer Training Program at Narnia Arts Academy. Chichi, who is 5 years old from Winchester, will spend two weeks this summer in Narnia, Italy taking private violin classes with Julliard professor Khullip Jeung, as well as performing with chamber groups. Congratulations, Chichi!
We congratulate our student Shirie Leng, who has just been accepted to the Masters’ Degree program in Violin Performance at Boston University. Shirie returned to the violin in the fall of 2014 after a 20+ year break, choosing Stan Antonevich as her teacher, with the dream of becoming a professional violinist. We are so happy that we could help her reach this milestone towards realizing her dreams!
We congratulate Stan’s student Angela Ma for passing the auditions for the 2016 Junior District Festival Orchestra, and for being awarded the principal second violin position in the orchestra. Angela has been studying violin for less than two years. We are proud of you, Angela!
I enjoy serving as concertmaster (most recently a month ago with the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra), and so do my students. It gives them a chance to be recognized for their musical talent and leadership, without the stress that a soloist has.
Here is my student Yiqing Rose Chen, serving as concertmaster of Tufts Youth Philharmonic in May 2015, with conductor John Page. Looking great, Rose!
